Go GREEN with Imtiaz Super Market!!

Global warming is a serious issue. As time is passing, our environment is suffering more and more due to carelessness and lack of ownership that the citizens are showing towards it.

There are animal species that are becoming extinct, places in the world where glaciers are melting and there is no doubt that the climate is constantly rising and seasons are becoming extreme.

There are a lot of causes of this and one of the major ones is plastic usage. Most of the plastic that is used is one-use, which means that it is discarded after being used once and is not reused or recycled. Also, most of the plastic that is consumed locally and normally is unrecyclable which automatically makes it harmful for the environment.

While the side-effects of plastic usage are already harmful, what is worse is the environmental effects of plastic production. The production process of plastic is one of the leading reasons for excess carbon emissions that lead to global warming. A lot of energy and resources are required to produce plastic with 90% and more being produced from fossil fuel resources. This has awful repercussions for the environment.

For a sustainable environment, one of the most important steps that are required is the controlled usage of plastic products.

For this reason, Imtiaz Super Market being a responsible citizen promotes usage of paper bags and cloth bags instead of plastic bags. In 3 branches, paper bags have already been introduced and with time, this shall extend to all branches.  Furthermore, ‘go green’ campaigns are launched frequently by Imtiaz Super Market. Recently, a plantation drive was held by Imtiaz Super Market in Clifton, Karachi.

Although it might seem impossible to eliminate plastic from our lives completely, it is anything but! Instead of purchasing plastic bags and bottles, we can use paper bags and boxes or glass bottles. We can use matches to light fires instead of lighters that are usually made of plastic. Giving up gum is also a great idea as it is made of synthetic rubber which is basically plastic.

If we stop using plastic, industries will stop producing them.

Our environment is something that we’ve borrowed from our future generations, and we need to realize this and take ownership of it.

It’s about time that we start caring about our actions and their consequences on a larger scale and GO GREEN!
